WARRIOR FACTORY - OPEN DAY - 12TH OR SEPTEMBER 2009
As some point in the past two years you have enquired about our martial arts classes. We don’t normal send unsolicited email but this is a one off just to let you know that this weekend we have the official opening for our first full time venue, the Warrior Factory
As this is a very special occasion for us we us, we have a very special person to carry out the officially opening. On Saturday the 12th of September Sarah Stevenson, Olympic Bronze medal winner in the 2008 Olympics will be paying us a visit. Not only will she be officially opening the venue, she will also be running a seminar for our most dedicated Taekwondo students. With European, World and Olympic medals in Taekwondo, Sarah is officially the most successful Taekwondo player the UK has ever seen and it’s only because Team Taekwondo competes at the highest level that we have this opportunity to train with the best.
Here is the schedule for the official opening of the Warrior Factory. All classes (except the training session with Sarah Stevenson) are available for you to try out for free.

Here is a quick run down on our different programs we will be running.
Taekwondo
Taekwondo is the Korean Martial Art and Olympic sport known for its spectacular kicking techniques. The word Taekwondo translates as ‘the way of the foot and fist’ or ‘the art of kicking and punching’. At Team Taekwondo we practice Olympic style Taekwondo and our club is affiliated to the National Governing Body (BTCB). Anyone from 6 years plus can train in our classes and we regularly have whole families training together. If you have struggled to make some of our classes before, we are now running Taekwondo classes 6 days a week, As well as the foundation classes we have dedicated sessions for self defense, competition training, patterns and advanced kicking. Taekwondo is an all round martial art and can provide something for everyone.
Lil Dragons
The Lil Dragons Martial Arts Program is specially designed for four to seven year olds and blends fun, exercise, Martial Arts and life skills. For years we and other Martial Arts clubs have tried to integrate younger children in to our mixed age classes, only to see them struggle to keep up with the pace and complexity of our teachings. Each Lil Dragons class is broken down in to 3-5 minute sections and the total length of the class is only 45 minutes long. This is the maximum time a typical child of this age group can focus. To make sure we hold the attention of our Lil Dragons, we alternate our Martial Arts content with games challenging both the children’s mental and physical skills. Towards the end of the lesson we gather the children together and chat about the weeks Life Skill. This can be anything from the importance of good health to what to do if approached by a stranger.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling but especially ground fighting. It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant using leverage and proper technique; most notably, by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat them. BJJ can be trained for self defense, sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition. Sparring (commonly referred to as 'rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition. Our new venue will be known as Gracie Barra Halifax and the instructors have trained in Brazil with the Gracie family many times. This class will only be open to students 13 years and older.
Thai-boxing
Thai-boxing or Muay Thai is referred to as "The Art of Eight Limbs", as the hands, shins, elbows, and knees are all used extensively in this art. A practitioner of Muay Thai thus has the ability to execute strikes using eight "points of contact," as opposed to "two points" (fists) in Western boxing and "four points" (fists, feet) used in the primarily sport-oriented forms of martial arts. We are expecting big demand for this class as 5 times World Champion Master Ronnie will be teaching. As with the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, only students 13 years plus will be eligible for this class.
Our new venue is in Hipperholme opposite the Grammar School. The full address is:-
